What We Supplied

990-bed Singapore worker dormitory furniture package by Zehao

Bedroom — Double-Tier Steel Bunk Beds & Lockers

Steel bunk beds ready for Singapore dormitory shipment

482 sets of double-tier steel bunk beds with safety guards on both sides, plus 26 single beds for supervisors and isolation rooms. Each bed is welded from a Φ48×1.0 mm steel post frame and 25×50×1.0 mm side rails, with a 3.5 mm wire-mesh sleeping deck. Total height 1,700 mm, sleeping deck 1,900 × 900 mm. Net weight 36 kg per bunk set.

506 two-tier steel lockers (H1830 × D450 × W400 mm, RAL7035 light grey, 15 kg) — each compartment fitted with one fixed shelf, a hanging tube and a cam lock supplied with 2 keys. Designed to slot into the 2 m corridor grid of Singapore purpose-built dormitories and to keep operator uniforms, helmets and personal tools separated.

Single Beds & PVC Bed Boards

Single metal bed and PVC bed board for dormitory

26 single metal beds (1,900 × 900 mm) and 990 PVC bed boards (1,860 × 840 × 9 mm) sized to fit the bunk frame and the single bed. The bed boards are lead- and formaldehyde-free and made of non-toxic polyvinyl chloride resin — a standard requirement for Singapore dormitory fit-outs.

Canteen — 8-Seater Sets

77 sets of 8-seater canteen furniture for the central dining hall. Each set = one table + two backless benches, sized to seat eight workers per cycle. The 2,400 × 600 × 75 mm fibreglass top was chosen for Singapore's humid climate — it does not absorb cooking oils, does not swell in tropical humidity and can be wiped down with standard commercial disinfectant. We supplied a steel L-plate per table (to mount to the floor without drilling through the slab) and matching leg bracing — a small detail that matters on rented construction-site flooring.

Why This Project Matters for B-End Buyers

Singapore runs one of the most tightly regulated foreign-worker dormitory systems in Asia. Any furniture package supplied to a MOM-licensed dormitory — whether for a PSA-linked construction site, an HDB works project or a private Purpose-Built Dormitory (PBD) — has to clear three sets of requirements: the client's specification, the Workplace Safety and Health (WSH) checklist, and the dormitory operator's internal standards. We are now familiar with all three.

  • Migrant-worker dormitory capacity — most ICPH/PBD rooms are sized around 2.4 m × 6 m grid with a 2 m corridor. Our 1,900 mm long bunk fits that corridor with the head-end rotated, and our locker depth of 450 mm clears the 600 mm corridor minimum.
  • Singapore import norms — bed boards with formaldehyde-free resin and metal lockers with non-toxic powder coating clear NEA dormitory inspections. Both have been pre-cleared through this shipment.
  • Canteen hygiene — fibreglass tops, sealed edges and welded steel frames pass the typical hawker-style food-handler audit used on Singapore construction sites.
  • Sealed-flat-pack ocean freight — all 506 lockers are export-carton packed (1850 × 48 × 6 cm), which keeps a 40 HC below the 67 m³ volumetric ceiling and arrives container-clean at Tuas.

About the Manufacturer

Tianjin Zehao Furniture is a Chinese manufacturer of commercial-grade steel bunk beds, lockers, canteen sets and dormitory fit-outs. Our products are used by dormitory operators, contractors and government agencies in Singapore, Malaysia, the UAE, Saudi Arabia, Africa and the Pacific. We work from our own drawings, hold SGS-tested 200 kg/berth load ratings on our heavy-duty bunk line, and ship FCL / LCL from Tianjin Xingang. For MOM-licensed dormitories, PSA-linked sites and HDB / JTC construction projects we can match Singapore-spec tenders and provide MSDS, powder-coat test reports and pre-shipment samples.

Frequently Asked Questions

What is the typical lead time for a 990-bed dormitory shipment to Singapore?

From PO confirmation we run 20 days to factory-loading at Tianjin plus 12–15 days transit to Singapore (PSA / Tuas). For this project the full package was delivered to the Tuas site by end of November 2024. Standard Singapore-bound dormitory orders of 800–1,200 beds land in 5–7 weeks including pre-shipment sample approval.

Do your lockers meet MOM dormitory security and WSH requirements?

Yes. Our two-tier steel locker (1,830 × 450 × 400 mm) ships with a cam lock plus 2 keys per compartment, a fixed shelf and a hanging tube, in RAL7035 light grey powder coat. It has been delivered into MOM-licensed dormitories and Singapore WSH-checked works sites. We can also provide flame-retardant certification on the powder coat and an MSDS for the resin bed board on request.

Why steel bunk beds instead of timber for Singapore's humidity?

Singapore's 80%+ relative humidity shortens the service life of MDF or solid-timber dormitory furniture and creates mould risk on shared sites. Our steel frame (Φ48 × 1.0 mm posts, 25 × 50 × 1.0 mm rails, 3.5 mm welded wire-mesh deck) is hot-galvanised under the powder coat, so it survives multi-year deployment at construction dormitories and ICPH sites without warping, swelling or termite damage.

Are the PVC bed boards fire-rated for Singapore dormitories?

The PVC bed boards are lead-free, formaldehyde-free and made of non-toxic polyvinyl chloride resin — the spec used across this shipment. We can also offer a Class B fire-rated variant (ASTM E84 / EN 13501-1) when the dormitory operator's safety file requires it. Both options are sized to fit our 1,900 × 900 mm bunk and single beds.

How are the containers packed so that the lockers arrive upright?

Each locker is export-carton packed at 1,850 × 48 × 6 cm and loaded vertically in 40 HC containers with internal bracing. Bunk beds are flat-packed in plastic bags with separated mesh decks, side rails and posts, then loaded 8–10 sets per cubic metre. We supply a packing list per carton and a photo-loaded container report before B/L release.

Can you supply replacement parts after the project is closed?

Yes — we keep the production drawings and powder-coat batch numbers for every Zehao project on file. Replacement lockers, mesh decks, locker cam-locks and PVC bed boards can be re-ordered by carton for the next 3–5 years from the original batch, which keeps the dormitory looking consistent during multi-phase handovers.
