Dormitory bunk bed buying guide for bulk buyers
Specifying dormitory beds for 100+ rooms is about three things: safety standard, berth load and landed freight. This guide gives bulk buyers the checklist Zehao uses on projects across Africa, Asia and Europe.
Checklist
1. Pick the standard for your market
EU: EN 747-1:2024 and EN 1725, CE marked. Middle East and Africa: EN 747 / CE referenced for import and tenders. Oceania: AS/NZS 4220 may apply. Zehao supplies SGS test data for each.
2. Set the berth load
Standard is 200 kg per berth (SGS tested). Heavy-duty camps can specify higher; confirm the exact figure for your use.
3. Choose KD flat-pack for freight
KD cartons roughly double container load versus assembled, cutting landed cost. See our Container loading calculator page.
4. Plan mattress together
Zehao dormitory mattress is 10 cm thick, 28 kg/m3, optional PVC cover, so bed and mattress ship and certify together.
5. Get a loading plan
After model selection we issue a carton-level loading plan and a room layout you can hand to your forwarder and architect.
