Dormitory Furniture Manufacturer

Tianjin Zehao Furniture manufactures complete steel dormitory furniture packages — bunk beds, single beds, loft beds with desk, shelving and storage units — for school, worker, mining, correctional and military accommodation projects. Direct factory supply since 1999, from our own 20,000 sqm plant in Hebei Province, China.

What a complete dormitory furniture package includes

Dormitory furniture is not a single product category. Procurement documents treat it as one package because the items have to work together inside the same room. In practice it splits into four groups, and most projects need all four:

  • 1 · Sleeping furniture — Steel bunk beds (twin-over-twin, twin-over-full, triple), metal single beds, loft beds with an integrated desk.
  • 2 · Bed-linked storage — Under-bed drawer units, stair storage units, bed-end lockers and shelves that fix to or sit under the frame.
  • 3 · Free-standing storage — Shelving and storage units, storage cabinets, filing cabinets and bookshelves for common areas and corridors.
  • 4 · Institutional variants — Prison and correctional beds, anti-tamper continuously welded frames, stencilled unit markings.

The practical consequence is that a buyer specifying a dormitory fit-out is usually looking for one supplier who can quote all four groups on one document, not a bed vendor plus a cabinet vendor plus a shelving vendor. That is the specific gap this range is built to close.

Specifications

All items in the range share one material system, which is what makes a mixed package look like a single installation rather than an assembly of different purchases.

How to specify a dormitory furniture package

The order of operations matters more than the product list. Projects that go wrong usually went wrong at step 2, not at the factory.

  1. Establish the berth count and room schedule — How many beds per room, how many rooms, and whether the building has to hit a fixed berth density. This single number determines bunk type, whether triple bunks are needed, and whether storage has to be built into the bed.
  2. Confirm the applicable safety standard for the destination market — EU projects need EN 747-1/-2 and EN 1725 with CE marking. Australia uses AS/NZS 4220. Other markets vary. Specifying the wrong standard is the most expensive mistake in this category, because it is discovered at inspection, not at order.
  3. Decide the storage strategy — Either bed-linked (under-bed drawers, stair storage — saves floor space, costs more per set) or free-standing (shelving and cabinets — cheaper, needs corridor or common-room space). High-density dormitories normally choose the first.
  4. Set the finish and colour across all items — One RAL for every steel item so the room reads as one installation. Custom RAL is subject to order quantity.
  5. Request shop drawings before production — We produce drawings for approval covering dimensions, tube thickness and layout. Nothing enters production before sign-off.
  6. Approve the container loading plan — Mixed loads are planned item by item so that beds and storage units fill one container rather than two part-loaded ones. A loading plan is supplied with the quotation.

Certifications and testing

Certification is what separates a dormitory supplier from a furniture exporter, because institutional buyers cannot accept a bed on appearance alone.

  • EN 747-1/-2 — European standard for bunk beds and high beds. Governs structure, stability and safety requirements.
  • EN 1725 — European standard for bed frames and mattresses, covering strength and durability.
  • CE marking — for the European market.
  • ISO 9001:2015 — production quality management.
  • SGS test reports — issued for load capacity and structural testing, supplied for tender submission.
  • AS/NZS 4220 — supported for Australia and New Zealand projects where additional testing is required.

We hold EU conformity documentation in-house and can support additional national testing where a market requires it. Test reports for a specific model are provided on request against the model code.

Frequently asked questions

What counts as dormitory furniture?

Dormitory furniture is the group of items fitted into shared sleeping accommodation: sleeping furniture (bunk beds, single beds, loft beds with an integrated desk), personal storage fixed to or placed beside the bed (under-bed drawers, stair storage), free-standing storage (shelving units, storage cabinets, lockers) and common-area furniture such as dining tables and chairs. Procurement documents usually treat all of these as one package rather than separate purchases.

Are you a dormitory furniture manufacturer or a trading company?

We are a direct manufacturer. Tube cutting, welding, powder coating and export packing are all carried out in our own 20,000 sqm plant in Hebei Province, China, with a monthly capacity of 8,000+ sets. The export sales office is in Tianjin. Alibaba Onsite Check verification has been completed on this factory.

Why source a dormitory furniture package from one supplier instead of several?

Three practical reasons. First, consistency: the same steel gauge, the same powder-coating colour and the same finish across every item, so a room does not look assembled from different sources. Second, logistics: one container loading plan covering all items, which normally raises container fill rate compared with consolidating several suppliers. Third, documentation: a single set of test reports and conformity documents (SGS, EN 747-1/-2, EN 1725, CE, ISO 9001:2015) for the whole tender submission instead of one set per supplier.

What load capacity do your dormitory beds carry?

Standard commercial-grade steel dormitory beds are SGS tested to 200 kg per berth under EN 747-1. Heavy-duty versions reach 250 kg per berth, and prison or correctional grades are continuously welded for up to 400 kg per berth.

Which certifications and standards apply to your dormitory furniture?

Our range complies with EN 747-1/-2 and EN 1725 for the European market, carries CE marking, and is produced under ISO 9001:2015. SGS test reports are issued and can be supplied for tender submission. Note that some markets require their own national standard — Australia uses AS/NZS 4220, for example — and we can support additional testing where required.

What is the minimum order quantity for a dormitory furniture order?

MOQ is 50 sets per standard model. Different models can be combined in the same container to reach that volume, so a project can mix bunk beds, single beds and storage units in one 20GP or 40HQ load. MOQ rises for fully customised sizes, colours or structures.

What is the production lead time?

20 to 25 days for standard items after deposit. Fully customised or large project orders run longer, confirmed per order against the production schedule.

Can you supply to full room schedules or architectural drawings?

Yes. We work from a room schedule or architectural drawing, produce shop drawings for approval before production starts, and manufacture to custom dimensions, tube thickness and RAL colours. Bed-linked storage modules, stencilled unit markings and flat-pack labelling by room can be arranged for institutional specifications.

What are your payment and shipping terms?

Payment is 30% T/T deposit with 70% balance against copy of Bill of Lading, or irrevocable L/C at sight for large project orders. Incoterms offered are EXW and FOB Tianjin, with CIF, CFR and DDU available on request. Loading port is Tianjin Xingang.

Which markets do you export dormitory furniture to?

Our main export markets are the EU and UK, Australia, USA and Canada, the Middle East (UAE and Saudi Arabia), Southeast Asia, the Pacific Islands and Africa. EU conformity documentation is held in-house; other local certification requirements can be supported.
