Steel Lockers and Storage Cabinets

Storage furniture quoted alongside our steel bunk beds, in a matching finish on request — so a dormitory project can be sourced as one order, through one container plan and one document set.

Why storage furniture decides whether a dormitory project stays single-source

A dormitory room is not furnished by beds alone. Procurement documents almost always list sleeping furniture, personal storage and common-area furniture in the same schedule — yet the three rarely come from the same factory. That split costs a project three supplier relationships, three delivery schedules and three document packs, and it is usually discovered late, after the bed order has already been placed.

Because storage is specified after the beds, it is also the line item most often left vague at tender stage. Buyers list "lockers and storage" as a single row without door counts, compartment sizes or locking detail, then discover the gap when containers are being planned.

We quote the storage range together with the bed range so that both lines are settled at the same time, in the same colour, against the same delivery schedule.

Five practical advantages of taking beds and storage from one supplier

  • Consistent finish — Storage can be produced in the same RAL colour as the bed frames, so a room reads as one furniture set rather than two separate purchases.
  • Higher container fill — Mixing lockers into a bed container lifts the fill rate compared with two separate shipments, which cuts freight cost per unit.
  • One document pack — ISO 9001:2015 and the project documentation come from one supplier, which simplifies tender submission and customs handling.
  • Dimension compatibility — Under-bed and bed-linked units are sized against our own bed frame dimensions, so no on-site reworking is needed.

And one that is often overlooked: a single delivery schedule. When storage arrives on a different vessel from the beds, a project can sit with completed bedrooms it cannot hand over. One supplier means one shipping plan.

How to specify storage together with a bed order

  1. Send the room layout or the tender schedule — A floor plan, a dormitory schedule or the storage row from the tender document is enough to start. If only a room count is available, that still works.
  2. State the door count and compartment layout — Number of doors per bay, number of bays, compartment heights and whether the units are free-standing or fixed to the bed or wall.
  3. Confirm the locking and access requirement — Key lock, padlock hasp, master-key system or anti-tamper specification. This is the single field most often missing from an enquiry.
  4. Name the standard your tender requires — Storage furniture is frequently specified under a different standard from the beds. Naming it lets us confirm which test documentation can be issued.
  5. Receive one combined quotation — Beds and storage are quoted together with a single container plan, so you can see the landed cost per room rather than per product.

Storage in dormitory projects: common mistakes buyers make

  • Leaving storage to the end. By the time the bed order is placed, the remaining budget rarely covers a proper locker specification, and the project ends up with mixed suppliers after all.
  • Specifying lockers without door counts. "One locker per student" tells a supplier nothing about volume, and volume is what drives the unit price.
  • Assuming the bed certificate covers the lockers. Storage furniture is commonly tested under a separate standard. If your tender names one, check it early rather than at delivery.
  • Forgetting reinforcement. Correctional and heavy-use projects need welded door frames and reinforced shelves. Retrofitting is not possible after production.
  • Planning two containers by default. Lockers and KD beds mix well in one container, so a single shipment is often achievable and materially cheaper.

Frequently asked questions

Can lockers be supplied together with bunk beds in one container?

Yes. Lockers and beds ship KD flat-packed and can be mixed inside a 20GP or 40HQ container, so a dormitory project can be sourced as one order with one container plan and one document set.

What locker and storage configurations are available?

Single-tier, two-tier, three-tier and four-tier door banks, lockable storage cabinets, wardrobe and shelving units, under-bed drawer units and bed-linked locker modules. Compartment counts, door layouts and sizes are confirmed against project drawings.

Are your lockers suitable for prison and correctional projects?

Anti-tamper configurations are quoted for correctional projects, including concealed or welded hinge options, tamper-resistant locking and unit-specific stencilling. Send the tender specification so the exact configuration can be confirmed.

What is the MOQ for steel lockers?

MOQ is 50 sets per standard model. Because lockers can be mixed with bed orders in the same container, a smaller locker quantity can be combined with a bed order to reach the volume.

Can the lockers match the colour of the bunk beds?

Yes. RAL colour matching is available and can be aligned with the bed frame colour on request, so a room reads as one furniture set.

What sheet thickness do you use for steel lockers?

Sheet thickness and gauge are confirmed against the project specification, because correctional and heavy-use projects usually call for a heavier gauge than standard school accommodation. State the required thickness in your enquiry and it will be quoted accordingly.

Do the lockers carry their own test certificates?

ISO 9001:2015 is held by the factory. Product-specific test documentation is confirmed against the standard named in your tender, since storage furniture is commonly specified under a different standard from the beds.

How is the storage range packed for sea freight?

All units ship KD knock-down in 5-layer export cartons with foam corner protection, which keeps packed volume low and reduces the risk of transit damage.
