Inside Our Metal Bed Factory
Zehao has manufactured steel beds and metal furniture in Hebei, China since 1999. Our 20,000 m² facility produces more than 8,000 beds every month for buyers in over 40 countries. This page shows the real production process — from raw steel tube to inspected, packed and shipped goods.
The Metal Bed Manufacturing Process
Every metal bed goes through the same disciplined flow. The summary below is followed by a step-by-step look at each stage.
- Laser tube cutting — steel tubes cut to precise dimensions
- Precision drilling — holes located from a fixed datum for perfect alignment
- Frame welding — each frame welded and inspected joint by joint
- Surface treatment and powder coating — corrosion-resistant finish
- Finished goods and warehousing — inspected, wrapped and consolidated
- Dormitory mattress production — compressed and roll-packed
- Quality control and load testing — 200 kg per bunk, SGS reports on request
- Packing and container loading — braced for long-haul sea freight
Step 1 — Laser Tube Cutting
Production starts at the laser cutter. Steel tubes are cut to precise lengths and angles, giving every frame a consistent, burr-free fit before it reaches the welding jig. Cutting to tight tolerance also removes the manual rework that causes uneven frames later.
Step 2 — Precision Drilling
Cut tubes are drilled and punched on fixed jigs. Because every hole is located from the same datum, bolt holes and mounting points align exactly during assembly — which is what keeps a bunk bed stable and rattle-free after installation.
Step 3 — Frame Welding
Our welders assemble each bed frame by hand and inspect every joint for penetration and strength. Frames are checked for squareness and dimensional accuracy before they move to the finishing line, so out-of-tolerance frames never reach the customer.
Step 4 — Surface Treatment and Powder Coating
Frames are degreased and phosphated, then powder coated. The cured coating resists scratching, chipping and corrosion — a finish suited to dormitory, hostel, student housing and institutional use where beds take heavy daily wear.
Step 5 — Finished Goods and Warehousing
Coated frames are inspected once more, then stacked and wrapped to protect the finish. Finished goods are stored in our warehouse and consolidated by order, so mixed product orders ship complete rather than in partial lots.
Step 6 — Dormitory Mattress Production
We also produce dormitory mattresses in 10 cm thickness at 28 kg/m³ density, available with PVC covers for easy cleaning. Mattresses are compressed and roll-packed, which significantly reduces the container space they occupy and lowers your freight cost per unit.
Step 7 — Quality Control and Load Testing
Bed frames are load tested to 200 kg per bunk, with dimensional and finish checks carried out before packing. SGS testing documentation is available on request for tender and compliance submissions.
Step 8 — Packing and Container Loading
Products are packed for long-haul sea freight, then loaded and braced in the container to prevent movement in transit. We provide loading reports and photos before dispatch.
